ABOUT YOUR SURGERY
At the Female Continence and Pelvic Surgery Center, our priority is to make your office and surgical experience non-stressful and as comfortable as possible.

YOUR HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE
Most of our patients will either have an out-patient Procedure or a short 1 to 2 day hospital stay. We encourage our patients to ambulate early.
Your Surgery will either be scheduled at The Villages Regional Medical Center in The Villages or at the Monroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala.

BEFORE SURGERY
You will have a pre-operative visit at the clinic a few days to weeks before your surgery. At this visit, your doctor will explain the procedure in details, answer any questions you may have and you will give all necessary informed consents. The pre and post-operative instructions will also be discussed with you at this visit.

Night Before Surgery: Do not eat or drink anything, even water, after midnight.

Morning of Surgery: You may brush your teeth and take any medication needed for maintenance of life with a sip of water (e.g., blood pressure medication and thyroid medication).

THE DAY OF SURGERY
You will be seen in the holding area by the anesthesiologist who will discuss your anesthesia with you. Your doctor will also come by to see you an answer any last minute concerns prior to your getting any pre-anesthetic medication.

AFTER SURGERY
A nurse from our office will contact you 2 to 3 days after surgery to check on you.
We will see you for your first post-operative visit 10 to 14 days following your surgery and sometimes a 6 to 8 weeks post-operative visit may also be necessary.
